How to Reach 10,000 Blog Subscribers
Why on earth would you try and build your blog subscriber list?
Social Proof is what it's all about.
Would you rather visit a blog on personal development with a subscriber count of 35 or would you rather visit a blog with 10,000 subscribers?
It may seem a little shallow at first, but in this day and age when you've got a few seconds to grab a new readers attention, social proof will be one of the first things a new reader to your blog will at. When you build up your reputation as a great writer and blogger you will automatically get more subscribers and your focus will be more on networking to build your blog rather than the logistics of setting up and starting your blog. However until you've built up a reputation, spending some time building up your subscriber base is great for you and great for social proof.
Why I wrote this guide
I've been blogging now for 4 years over at Change Your Thoughts and it wasn't until last year that I really started to focus on my blog as a business. One of the first things I wanted to achieve was to lift my languishing subscriber base from 3,500 to 10,000. I achieved this in a little over 9 months, and to date I have 13,500 subscribers.
So I thought I would write a guide on how I managed to achieve this in such a short space of time.
My aim was to make it as simple as possible and let even new bloggers follow the path that I have to achieve a much bigger subscriber base. It took me 3 years to build a list of 3,500, but it only took me another year to add another 10,000 onto that.
Taking blogging seriously
If you don't take blogging seriously you won't get anywhere with it. Yes you might meet some fantastic people on your blogging journey, but if you want to make it an integral part of your business you've got to treat it like a business. I didn't really take blogging that seriously for the first 3 years as I had lots of other micro-businesses that i was working on. however, in June 2009 I sold all my micro-businesses and started to concentrate on the writing and on blogging and it's paid off.
You have a gift
You have a gift and it's unfair to keep this gift to yourself. If you are a blogger and keep up with your writing and try your best to perfect your craft you will develop your gift into something that can be shared with thousands of people around the world. Don't underestimate your influence when you start to gain more subscribers.
It is your responsibility to share this gift with others without expecting anything in return. When you get to the stage that you have given so much then it's time to start making money for yourself to keep developing this gift. Even if you write an ebook after a year or two of blogging and start selling it for $15, you are still sharing your gift, but also helping yourself. So you can make blogging a full time business for yourself if you are so inclined, and there are hundreds of bloggers who have packed in their 9-5 job and become a pro blogger in a relatively short space of time. However, to make money you need to grow your list, and that's my goal with this short guide.
